Ok, Ive decided I want to do a kenne bell. Im more into having a fun street car than getting die hard with the track stuff, so this is what I figure will be in my best interest. Its not gonna happen for a while, as I have to save for it but when it does, I need to know what Ill need to go along with it.

I plan to just get the 1.5L blower and get 8-9 psi out of it. Word is, the 5.0 block doesnt like when numbers start creeping up to 500hp, and I figure ill be somewhere close to 450 crank HP if not more when it gets going. Am I going to need fuel upgrades? The cobra comes with 24# injectors... is this going to be enough? Also how bigs my fuel pump? would the KB boost a pump be sufficient for the lower boost I plan on? I know Ill need a tune, so that will happen... and my pistons were replaced with forged ones when Jason built the motor along with trickflow valve springs in the heads. Is there more I should be looking at or are these basically the things I need to cover? Also, Im curious how the boost guages work... do they just hook up to a vacuum line somewhere? Anything you guys can tell me would be sweet. :2up:

u may be able to get away with an fmu...im putting 24lbrs on my fox n/a when im adding heads and intake...gonna be around 350 or so at the crank....so 24lbs with an fmu u should be fine...throw a stud girdle and valley girdle and the block will be fine and theres a vacuum line that plugs in on the back of the blower if it is like the one on the foxes...ive messed around with a few of them and they scream pretty good

I would not get the 1.5 kit, if you still have stock heads 325 rwhp max.

The K/B 1.5 is rated at 585 cfm at 8.8 psi at 12000 rpms. My 98 cobra had ported heads and cams, it made a litte over 315 rwhp n/a and with K/B 1.5 only made 379 rwhp. I sold this blower to friend of mine and his stock 98 cobra (motor) made about 377 rwhp. To reach those numbers I had to modify the blower inlet manifold and use 2.75" pulley. With the stock pulley I was only able to made 344 rwhp.

The kenne bell is what im planning on, ive already got all my info from it. heres a good start, but they told me when i emailed them that i wouldnt need to do anything unless i went with the blowzilla/flowzilla kit. And yes your hp will be alot more than you expect, 450 with nothing else done to the car and thats for the basic kit. but look it over. They also said if you have aftermarket underdrive pullies youll have to take them off and put the stock ones back on.

I think you'll be closer to 400 at the crank. If you figure about 20% drivetrain loss, mine was about 375 at the crank with the 1.5 @ about 10psi. That was with P heads, long tubes, and a 65mm TB. Of course, mine had the stock, unported, lower intake at the time.

The 24# injectors and stock pump will likely work if you plan on using the FMU. I woud suggest going to a bigger pump (255lph), an AFPR, at least 30# injectors, and a larger MAF to match.

The boost gauge hooks up to the discharge side of the blower, typically just above where it meets the lower intake. As a side note, if you are planning on fuel upgrades and NOT using the FMU, the vacuum line for the AFPR will also need to be connected to the discharge side of the manifold.

Couple additional points to remember:
-if you are planning on staying close to stock dispacement, then the 1.5 should suffice - but seriously look into getting the flowzilla manifods. If you are planning on going bigger (331, 347, etc) then just go for the blowzilla/flowzilla combo, since the 1.5 wont really be able to keep up very well.
-The less restrictions you have in front the blower the happier it will be. There are several reports of people going from the stock airbox and TB to a larger TB, MAF, and CAI picking up 1-1.5# add'l boost.
-If you have underdrive pullies, sell them and put the stockers back on, otherwise you'll be doing good to get 4psi from the 1.5. If you need a stock crank pully for an sn-95 (not sure of the cobra is different than a gt) I have one.
-the 1.5 is definitely a "sleeper" blower, mine is dead quiet. Unless you pop the hood, nobody will ever know it's there. The 2.2 on the other hand is MUCH louder, sounding somewhat like the eatons on the 03-04 Cobra's
-with all the additional torque those things help develop down low, higher gears are your friend. Anything more than 3.55's and you'll likely not catch traction till the top of 3rd or so...

That's all I can think of for now....

I feel a little left out to. I'm thinking about the Kenne Bell as well. Its a 2.4L for the 05-06 Mustang GT. Kenne Bell says about 445 hp. Sounds fun to me. Hope to get it in a few months.
