Just got my Hawk HP Plus pads this morning in mail. I heard it is not difficult to instal new front pads, is this true or would you guys recommend taking it to a shop? Its something I need to learn anyway.........
My calipers are Saleen Alcon 4 pistions if that is needed.
Thanks

Now that you are open tracking you are going to need to get proficient with swaping out pads. On my PBR's a pad change takes about 5 minutes a side, and that includes pulling the tire. Not sure how long your Alcon's will take, might pay off in the long run to find a shop that will let you watch (closely) so you learn how its done and what tools you'll need (large C-clamp to compress the pistons, etc) then practice it at home. We've changed pads most weekends depending on how many runs we've done. If MFE or Anthony are at the track they are old hands at this.
Going to the big track is just plain expensive and the more you do yourself the better off you will be. At the same time the more you will learn about your car. For example if your Alcon's still have the rubber boots on the pistons they will probably burn off about 1/2 way through a long weekend of open track!
