Ok, here's the deal. When I turn my foglights on the other lights on my dash begin to dim periodically, almost like the alternator is going out, but I just replaced it with a 130 amp one. So the alternator should be fine. The lights kinda flicker and dim, I'm just not sure what else could be causing this problem.
Any input would be great. Thanks.

It has to be some kind of draw. There could be a huge parasitic draw on the fog lights that's only affected when there on. I would check the alternator first but that's just me. If you need some help call me.

Thanks man, I might see if I can get my car up here next week (weather permitting) and maybe I can come by and you can take a look at it for me. Plus, I need to get it in to Mark for a couple tweaks with the idle at cold start.

It could be something as simple as the headlight switch. You have to remember, those style switches have been around since the late 70's and can go bad. I had to replace mine once when I had my first 79 Mustang back in high school. Then again, just because the alternator is new doesn't mean it is working correctly. My buddy Pat went through 4 of them before he got a good one. In any case, it should be pretty east to solve. Good luck.

Is there any way to make sure the alternator is working at its full potential?

Yes, there is. You just need to use an Amp meter to check its output. Most auto parts stores will perform this check for you free of charge, or I could check it for you if you wanted to bring it buy our shop. You can use a digital Ohm meter, as well, but not everybody has one of those because they're not very cheap. I have one, but only because I am certified to work on computers. You should also check your negative battery cable where it grounds to the engine block. A loose connection there can cause the symptoms you described, plus it's an easy fix.

Not sure when I'd make it up there. Possibly Saturday, I'll definitely give you a call or PM you if I can make it up that way. Thanks bro!

Sorry, I'm on a rotation where I only work every 3rd Saturday. I work again on Saturday the 25th. If we work Saturday we also get the following Friday off, so after today I will not be back until Monday. I'll be around Monday-Friday next week, if that works for you.
