Any one else signed up for April 12th Road Warriors event at Heartland Park? Its a wednesday night thing. I will be getting an instructor. Does anyone else know what organizations I can join to get more track time? I hate to be limited to twice per month at Heartland Park.

Also check with local BMW, Porsche and other clubs. Their events are usually open to other makes to keep costs down.

Thanks for the reminder! I just signed up. Doubt it'll be in the Mustang, but I'll be there.

Does anyone else know what organizations I can join to get more track time? In addition to Porsche and BMW clubs' events at HPT: http://hpt.com//store/catalog/events_road.php?view=all_events&osCsid=3f558fb129941cd73062848909ad3f0a

consider MAM, in Iowa: http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/2006/default.asp

or Hallett, near Tulsa, OK.

I just did a 2day driving school through the BMW club at HPT and I tell you, it was the most fun I have had in any car of mine ever. I've done quarter mile stuff for fun, but this takes it to a new extreme. I beat the sh*t out of my car all weeekend with hard brake, cornering and acceleration and learned a ton from my instructor who rode with me and taught me the ropes. I pitted next to the only other mustang there which was Scott Martin in his Cobra R, which was awesome. Anyways, this sport is so fun, I recommend doing a school to learn the ropes. Great times though, I'll tell you all about it at our meeting in April.

Uh oh!!! Sounds like Dave's hooked on the track pipe. :pimp1:

Hey Dave, are you going to attend the SCCA event this weekend also? Hope to see you out there, 'cause there never are enough mustangs at these events.

I can't make it this coming weekend, my parents are coming in town. My next driving on any roadcourse will probably be at MAM April 5th for open track and April 12th HPT Open track. Basically, you show up, get car inspected, check out the rules and regulations online before you come. If you plan on going to any of those 2, let me know. Its not 100% sure yet for me, still need to get a pass from the wife.

I was at a few DPE Wed night events last year. Being 150 miles west of Topeka, and usually getting home around 12:30am Thursday morning doesnt make the 30 minutes of track time seem very worthwhile let alone the price of gas to drive down and back. If I was closer it'd be a great deal. Never know, I might decide to make it to one or two this year. Glad you had fun out there at HPT. Try to add an event at Hallett to your list, you'll love that track.

Won't be able to make SRT Road Warriors tomorrow the 12th. Car is going into shop to look at my transmission, can't get it into 1st or 2nd gear. **** it!!

Hopefully not a large job.

Friggin awesome! Imagine going down the 1/4, then you get about 12 turns and you are magically back the beginning of the 1/4, and on and on.... Continuous fun. Each group got to run three different times, money well spent.

Got to learn a lot about how my car handles, no body roll or brake fade, but definitely need softer fronts.

Goooood times. But I think I scared a couple people with the tail-out cornering attitude of my fOxcart. Near as I can tell I was running 1:46-1:47 on my clean laps, which is several seconds faster than last year. Not sure how much of that is new pavement and how much of it is the X2 balljoints, but I know one thing that did NOT help and that was the upper-rpm breakup I was experiencing more and more as the night wore on.

Got some neat video of the guy in the lightning making about 200 feet of smoky stripe exiting the chicane, then overdriving the hell out of it for the rest of the lap until he put 4 off in turn 5 (actually 2nd turn in that config).

And I guess it's bad form for an instructor to get black-flagged for passing in the wrong place (he pointed me by! He was a rolling speed bump!) and putting 2 wheels off with a student on board LOL
