Some of the best advise I ever got was over on Modular Depot. Lots of debate on both.

The 98 Cobra that once owned, had a locker on it. It helped for straight line Performance but sucked on the street.(very noisy) I were do it all over again I would have gone with the Eaton and not sold the Cobra.

detroits are near impossible to break (and I have shelled some diffs), aside from streetability. . .are the best. .

Did you have a TrueTrac? I've only heard of noise while coasting. They've redesigned it for 3 pinions vs. 2 and increased the the number of bolts holding it together so I'm leaning towards this now.

BTW, Eaton just bought them, so they must be pretty decent, no?

I have had a 9" detroit locker (noisey but bullet proof), A good friend of mine down here in wichita has a true trac on his blown 95gt, and he loves it. I have an auburn in my current setup, no problems yet but I have heard there kinda cheesy (in car when purchased)

DO NOT BUY AN EATON or AUBURN!!!!

Not intended for anything but cruising!!

I have a Detroit Truetrac in my car since my Auburn decided it wanted to take a vacation. Since my car is a street/strip car, this is the best out there. Bob Cosby (Former P/S winner) ran all year with this differential and had nothing but success.

If you go full out drag racing, I would go with the locker. Really noisey but that just means its working! :2up:

I saw that thread. Scary.

Thanks for the feedback. My car is more street than strip, so it looks like the TrueTrac it is. I'm going to upgrade to Moser 31-spline c-clip axles. I already have a FRPP girdle and the caps have already been studded. Hopefully after all this I won't have to mess with the rearend for awhile.
