Still looking for MORE track time?? SVTOA Central Region is putting on an SVTOA On Track Performance Driving Clinic, September 15 & 16 at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, just west of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

This event is open to all makes and models of vehicles, and it doesn't matter if you're a complete novice or a seasoned track dog, we'll have separate run groups based upon your level of experience and plenty of in-car instructors for the novices and anyone who may want one.

Cost is $240 for two days and includes dinner Saturday evening.

And the best part: we're planning on running the track counter-clockwise on Saturday and clock-wise on Sunday! Two days to learn and enjoy two different tracks!

You can go to www.svtoaok.com to get information or go to www.svtoa.motorsportreg.com to register on line. Here is a link to the event flyer: http://www.svtoaok.com/docs/2007_Hal...lyer_fixed.pdf

Hope to see you at Hallett! :2up:

Still looking for MORE track time?? Who isn't? Sounds like fun and interesting to run the track in different directions.

I haven't been there for years, but always hear good things about Hallett. Thanks for the info.

Wish I had the time, money, and tires to do this. I have heard good things about Hallett and it is on my list to visit when I get the chance.

I've driven more than 60 different road courses across the US and Canada, and Hallett is my favorite "driver's track". It's very, very technical, difficult to learn, difficult to see into and out of the turns...and an absolute blast to drive because you're always thinkin', "man, I missed that apex a little bit...I know I can do better next time!"

Up hill, down hill, blind crests, blind apexes, hyper-late apexes, attack turns, patience turns and even "The Bitch", it's definately old-school.

Oh yeah, then we turn it around and run it the other direction on Sunday. <evil instructor grin>.

Dave: I'm sorry you have to work that weekend...sure you aren't <cough, cough, wheeezz> coming down with something?

Al: time, money, tires?? HHHmmm... you can't take them with you, so you might as well us them all when you can! And, I know you'd love Hallett and we would be honored if we (SVTOA) could pop your Hallett cherry! :banana_dance:

And realistically, you're gonna have to look long and hard to find TWO days of track time WITH a dinner for this kind of money...that's a smokin' price!

Pass the word...the more the merrier.

See you at Hallett!

Just a quick review of the event....but, before I do that, a HUGE "Thank you" needs to go out to Dell Hughes, who served as the event chairman and organizer for this event. Without Dell's forsight, this event simply wouldn't have happened.

OK, about the event: Hallett is a twisting turning, climing and diving "old school" facility...a true "driver's track" and honestly, of all the tracks I've driven, it's probably my favorite from behind the wheel. As an instructor, it's a very challenging track to drive...blind crests, blind apexes, hyper late turn-ins and yes, even a few places where your students CAN mess up. Bottom line: a great track to drive in BOTH directions. Yes, Hallett can be driven both directions...and that's what we did!

If you've never been there, here is a link to the track's web site: http://www.hallettracing.net . Go to the Photo Gallery link on the left and find the SVTOA event images to see the cool collection of cars we had in attendance. We had one of the last Parnelli Jones Saleens but and not just one, but TWO Gulf Blue Heritage Edition Ford GTs screaming around the track. And, here is a link to a forum post by Steve, one of the GT drivers; http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7556 Thanks for the kind review Steve!

Over the course of the two days, we had a couple of minor incidents; fortunately, but the bottom line: no one was injured.

I want to thank all the students and participants - everyone played by the rules, drove within the spirit of the event and played nice with each other on the challenging Hallett course - both directions!

And of course, again, we simply could NOT have done this event without our in-car instructors. For the Hallett event, our hard-working instructor crew consisted of;
Mark Bettin - TX
Jonathan Blevins - OK
David Cook - IL
John George - TX
Brock Ivers - OK
Chris Lyons - TX
Buck Morris - OK
Clay Pearce - OK
Mitchell Pinnix - CA
Bud Sharp - TX
Michael Vanzandt - IL

Thanks again guys, your students and I appreciate your dedication and willingness to share your knowledge with others.

Also, a special call-out to Peter Hughes for his tech support willingness to help out anyone with a mechanical problem and to 5.0/Late Model Restoration and United Ford for their sponsorship of the event.

Oh yeah...and the weather was SPECTACULAR!

See you on track! :banana_dance:

Hey Jeff-

Looks like everything went pretty slick. Unfortunately for me, the money just wasn't available to make this trip. The pictures of the 2 GTs in trail and the red and gray GT500 are really cool.
