I was just wondering what everyones opinions are on solid mounts. Does anyone have some? If so do you like them? I have heard that they are harder on the car than stock or poly mounts

I'm not sure if which engine you have, but it is not a good idea to use them with the stock 5.0 block. The block is weak and will crack if you use solid mounts on a high power engine.

I wouldn't use them, an engine needs to have some play in the drive line and if it doesn't have it, via the motor mounts and other mounts some thing else well have to give which could lead to something else braking.

:agree: Its cheaper to replace motor mounts, than a block or K-member

I'm putting them in when I swap over to my new K-Member. The advantages is not having the shift in the powertrain under load. From what I've seen and heard, it's actually smoother. you don't have any vibration. Mod motors run so smooth you don't get the vibes like you would with a 5.0L Mustang.

any more opinions of solid motor mounts?
i am going to either replace stock with a urethane mount or go solid...
i have a 380rwhp stage3 Roush (SC'd mod motor) used mainly for car shows, cruises and 4-5 road course events per year...would this be a wise decision?
opinions welcomed!

Ive never used them, but I do know as a rule of thumb, that if you use solid motor mounts, you NEED to use the solid tranny mounts as well. Just what Ive heard. If its a mod motor you have, you would have better luck with a solid mount. They do run much smoother, as BUFORD already stated. Even with Cams they run pretty smooth. A SBF motor with a cam is going to shake and rattle the car like a Harley Davidson.

The rule is that if you run solid motor mounts, that you do not run a solid tranny mount. When the body flex'es, it will break the tranny if you run solid on both.
