Ok, I'm gonna ask you guys since you guys as a whole seem to actually have a clue.
First, My Cobra on average runs 13.4-5 at about 104.5. It's ran alot better, but that's the norm. How will I compare to the cars around here, am I gonna me mid pack, or a punk? I don't think racing is any fun if I'm two seconds slower than everything else out there.
Second, Would I do well to pick up one of the used non intercooled centrifugal blowers that are all over the internet for about $1500, or do they consistantly have problems? Would it be safe to throw 8-10 lbs of boost at a 114k mile car with new headgaskets and timing? With longtubes and an offroad exhast setup, would it get me over 400rwhp?
Thanks!!

First of all, don't give any of us that much credit. We just slept in a Holiday Inn Express last night, that's all.
You'll stack up fine. There aren't very many of us hell bent on being the fastest this or that, although going faster is very addictive. What we do encourage is having fun and helping each other. If your junk is slow, we will only make fun of you till you go postal, then we'll try to help you get the most out of what you have.
As for buying a used blower, that's a total crapshoot. If you're going to do that, try to buy from someone you know that will stand behind it if it's not right. Putting 8-10 lbs on a high mile 4V would be OK for a while, might get you close to 400 HP without the IC.

Quad,
Did you not get the cams put in your car while it was in the shop? I know you had talked about it quite a bit, but I hadn't seen any dyno nos. on svtperformance! I was anxious to see how they worked out, because that is my next move!
Back on subject...I haven't been around kc-mustangs long enough to know the fast/not so fast index but there are a number of pretty mean cars in this town from what I have seen.
As for the blower, my little brother has bought used blowers twice and done very well with both. What he normally looks for is one that has been recently rebuilt with a receipt from the manufacturer for the rebuild. You will make good power with 8 lbs and a good tune. I am a firm believer in longtubes. They make a rediculous difference on these cars especially with a good tune.
Good luck,

I would not be scared of the 1500.00 centrifugal, a good tune on a stock, high mileage shortblock will last awhile. . 400rwhp is very realistic. . .make sure you do the fuel system right ie. NO FMU. . . . If you need any help lemme know. . .as for your car the way it stands. . good numbers, probably get a little more out of it too. .

If your Cobra is running, mid 13's, and with a few simple/inexpensive mods, you can get into the 12's very easy! Try it out, see how it feels, then when you get the speed itch, pick up a blower! Also, the more you race, the better you will get in little things like shift points, quicker clutch action, and launching! I learned more then I could ever forget from guys on here a couple years ago, and what's really kick ass about it, is that I still learn today from those same guys!
Experience and knowing your car can pick you up soo much more then most people realize!!

I'll race you on the street..... with either car :wave1:
mid-low 13's is very credible. Your not going to win very many street races but its fast enough for most people. Blower + 4v = as fast as N/A 2v car :smilielol:

Thanks for all the help guys! I can't wait to meet you all.
Things are going pretty good, my DD took a dump a few days ago, so I had to buy a new car, an 02 Mercury Cougar. Granted, it's more my wife's than mine, but I think it's a nice spunky little car non the less. But, because of that situation, I need some cash so I'm selling my cams, and my potential buyer is on this forum.
If this all goes through, I'm going to have my car up here very soon. When I do, I am soooo going to KCIR. I hope to see some of you there!!
edit- Oh and Buford, if I'll play with the STi, and I know you're modded now, but I'm scared of the cammed and juiced GT! rofl :smilielol:
