Pillar gauges for a 'vert

I've seen some ads that say "Hard Top Only". Do I need a specific type for a triple pillar in a vert?

Yes, the design for the vert a-pillar trim is different. There are a-pillar pods for verts out there, I found them once. Not very common though. I think I saw them on rpmoutlet.
